does anyone know why some photos I watermark and try to save as jpg won't save, and give an error "can not save due to error in program" I haven't been able to figure out what the trigger is, I edit all photos in Lightroom and then PS7 for watermarks. I've googled and tried a few suggestions, still happens..
thanks for the help cheers phil

Was PS7 installed before LR? If so there's a chance the LR install put some stuff on their in the common files that PS7 needs but isn't compatable with.
Do you have just a plain jane PS plugin for the watermarks? If so you could use irfanview to put them in. IMO, for best quality, you could export a RAW from LR as a tiff and then use irfanview to add in the watermark via the plugin and save as jpg. Sounds anal retentive but jpg's get ugly after they've been opened then saved a few times. |

yes, PS7 was installed before LR. I usually edit RAW and export to jpg from LR then use PS7 to watermark...some of them I notice I can't upload to flickr, I had to use the "email" uploader to get them up...I will look into irfanview and see what it's about..never heard of it.
thanks for the reply FF cheers Phil

Always a pleasure good sir. Hopefully irfanview can do the job for you. It's a pretty easy to use app

funny you say easy...I've been trying to figure out how to watermark it for a while...
only think i see is add text to selection, but then I can't get the size figured out and not sure now to change the transparency...I don't see anything about a plugin for watermarking... again your help is greatly appreciated. cheers Phil.

You want one you can see then, yes? When you add the text it should add it as another layer. You can adjust that layer's opacity to make it more transparent. Size wise, the box you create has a part to play but also the size of the font does (like the text can't be bigger than the box but it can be smaller). In CS4 has a font size up top that's nice and easy (like 14pt or something). I'd imagine it should be similar enough in 7 but it's been a while.
With the layer part though you should be able to click on Window and select layers in there. Somewere in the box it pops up should be what you need to adjust the opacity. |

http://www.trap17.com/index.php/Addi...op_t56817.html http://itds.wordpress.com/2009/05/19...-in-photoshop/ There's a couple pages that sound like they're doing something similar in PS to what you want to do. Not quite the same thing but close enough to apply the knowledge, you know? Of course, that doesn't help if PS isn't working. I'll keep looking for more solutions ![]() edit- ok, not really seeing anything good. Could you uninstall and reinstall PS? Not trying to be a pain but that may help get it running again. And after you get a groove with it you could always create an action to do it for you |

thanks, I have "making" the watermark down pat, it's easy and really quick, I've tried exporting from RAW to Tiff, then adding the watermark so as not to degrade the jpg, however, when I try to save some of them, and there is no rhyme or reason to which ones, I get a "cannot save due to a program error" ultimately alot of these can't be uploaded to flickr in the conventional way...so my only thought would be too MUCH post processing? usually I just add exposure to some darkened areas, crop sharpen and thats it...I just don't know...the photos that won't load to Flickr won't upload to "picnik" either...if that helps...size is not an issue, they are less than 5MB...

That's just really, really weird man. Sounds like there's more going on than just PS acting weird. I dunno. Have you tried the flickr uploader app (vs the web based stuff)? I've never had a problem with it.
I'd still see reinstalling photoshop possibly. |

It doesn't seem to happen in the newer versions but I had had that issue frequently in 7 and 8. I think it was a support issue.
There are some really good deals online now for the CS editions :> |
