And there's no limit really with the HD video unlike the Nikon which is one second less than 6 minutes if I recall and only 720p. And the pricing, $2700USD, is less than or very competitive compared to the Nikon D700 and the Sony A900. Competition is a good thing.
Sample HD clip (obviously resized) in the below link: http://bobatkins.com/photography/dig...I_preview.html Sample images: http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/eos..._sample-e.html I used to be on the one side of the fence thinking video with these cameras was a completely useless feature, I'm thinking differently... getting that nice DOF with a fast lens that you can't with today's consumer HD cameras on the market. Sure it doesn't have a great stereo mic but then you could bring a separate mic for that and mix the audio together later.... hmmmm. No, must not buy...... |

One thing bothers me... why is continuous shooting under 4fps? Would it be faster at 10MP rather than 21MP?

That's one awesome camera!
Before I bought the D300 and before the D700 came out, I was considering switching to Canon for the 5D. Seeing this makes me wish I waited on the D300 and bought a 5D MK ll. <kicking myself>

You know this wouldn't have been nearly as drastic of a step forward if it weren't for the D3 and the like coming out. And it'll be interesting as can be to see how the competition responds. Awesome awesome. Now to see how real world noise levels are. Even if they're not spamtastic I'm sure it'll be nice |

Oh, and the 15 point AF, without reading about it, sounds like a good step forward. And Canon loves to trickle down stuff like that. Good stuff

I'm DSLR-less at the moment
I sold off my 5D before it's resale value took a nosedive last week, lol. Looking to pick up a 50D soon and then the 5d-II when it's released (after my last vacation, I've decided that I need two bodies). Putting in overtime again ![]() Now using my lil' Canon G9 and having withdrawal symptoms! Anyone else sold off their 5D and waiting for the Mk.II? |

Two local stores are being cryptic (Henry's and Vistek). They are telling me that the 50D "may" be available this Friday, but it's a strong possibility that it will be available at the end of this month. I've put my name on a preorder list, with confidence that I can return for a refund if there's anything wrong like with the 1DMk-III @ it's release. You are gonna LOVE the 85L! That's the lens which prompted my switch to Canon. Even casual portraits turn out great with that lens. All you need to do is give yourself time to practice @ 1.2 (can be tricky). The 50D samples look great. Looks like it's pics compete with the 5D's at high-ISO. I can only imagine how great the 5D Mk-IIs' high-ISO performance is gonna be! Cheers, Sabesh. |
