These were taken with a Canon A540.

Thanks! Those took me quite some time to catch and glad someone likes it!

I'm saving up for a REALLY good SLR from Costco (Rebel XT I think) and I was wondering if SLR's will be better for macro shots?

With a macro lens, quite probably. Or you can use extension tubes and a decent standard length lens (prime or zoom)

haha, i LOVE the bunny shot! such a cute shot.
the 3rd photo is absolutly amazing! i love flower shots, and you did a great job with this one, catching those rays.
lets us know if you get your xt, and what you think of it!

Thanks to you and to tiny103 as well. Much obliged!

Sadly, I didn't get that XT as of yet but I did get a 35mm SLR for the time being and I think it's quite neat, doing it without the help of sensors and the like.

It's quite fun!

i took a look at it in your thread, looks like alot of fun and you got a great deal on it!
me myself am a bit too chicken to use film (hehe i'd waste waaaay too much film) but it would be fun to pick up an older film slr when i feel more comfortable with my abilities.

Even if you're uncomfortable, you should take a stab at it when you can. The feeling is indescribable. Plus, waiting for it to develop is so thrilling. Beats seeing it in a viewfinder.

Yes I like the rabbit shot too. I have a soft spot for rabbits..

Of course that soft spot has led me to know that it's not a rabbit in the picture, but a white-tailed jackrabbit, a type of hare. I would know because there's a family of them in my neighbourhood. (Also in Calgary)

You always learn something new everyday. I'm still waiting for me lenses to come in the mail so I can take photos of animals and such at the zoo.
