Default Canon or Nikon?

What do you use? I use Canon myself as my mom has some older SLR equipment so she bought an XTi to modernize, and thus I am using it.

Lol! that was my first reaction to the thread title as well!

I'm a committed nikon guy. But, if I were start over again, it would probably by Canon now.

I'm a Canon guy. My first Canon SLR was a Digital Rebel. I would have considered Nikon but at the time but they didn't really have an entry level digital SLR.

Add a few pricey lenses and flashes to the mix and now I'm stuck with Canon (not that that's a bad thing).

If I had more money I would pick up a Nikon (and Sony, Pentax, Olympus) body and some lenses to compare.

Nikon here. My first SLR was Nikon and I just like the way it feels and operates better. I think camera systems are exactly like computers, they're both boxes with the same job, it's just a matter of which feels right to you. If you use one system long enough, the other will just feel odd.

I have been a Canon guy since I first made the move from manual focus to autofocus. You can't go wrong going with either.....and generally you go with what you are familiar with. What would also influence your decision is whether you have any existing gear (it would be silly if you have a lot invested in Canon gear for film and then you switch to Nikon for digital). For years, Nikon had the rep of professionalism and durability with their venerable F line of pro cameras, however over the years it seems like more and more pros have gone with Canon. At your next pro football game, look to the sidelines and notice how many white lenses the pro photographers are using.

I'm a Canon guy. Spent a bit on lenses now, so I'm not changing. Of course I love their PS cameras too. And I have the i9900, the best dedicated photo printer.

I'm nikon. I'm not dedicated to either side, but I want to try out a rebel and maybe get a converter like simplefarmer. I haven't had a canon DSLR yet. only a P&S

I won't vote since I haven't used either, but based on images and reviews I've seen as well as the current camera specs (non-DSLR) I'd vote Canon.

I like Nikon but I wouldn't mind switching to Canon.

I prefer Canon. I'd not put a Nikon down but if I started all over again with what I know now I'd still go with Canon. No real reason, they've just been good to me
